Gloucester is the closest town to the renowned wilderness destinations of World Heritage Barrington Tops, Woko and Copeland Tops.
Barrington Tops is the highest subalpine region in the country outside the Australian Alps and it gets a regular dusting of snow each winter.
You’ll be enthralled by the high altitude ancient rainforests, towering tree fern groves, snow gum meadows and exhilarating mountain views.
Gloucester is a pretty country town with a remarkable backdrop of the Buccan Buccans (the Bucketts Mountains) surrounded by three rivers, productive farming valleys and high forested mountains.
There is a remarkable selection of sporting facilities within the town but we are famous for the experiences further afield for outdoor adventure and activities. Try white water paddling by canoe or kayak, the local rivers are good for beginners, intermediate and experienced paddlers too. Or go horse riding along scenic riverside trails with a true bushman.
Plus there are plenty of fishing spots plus walking trails in the parks that take you to rarely visited waterfalls, wetlands and breathtaking lookouts.
