Karamea Homestead a remote rural property, so ensure you’re thoroughly prepared by bringing appropriate clothing, equipment and adequate food.

The homestead is fully furnished and has a full kitchen, four bedrooms (two queen beds & six king size single beds) & two bathrooms, providing comfortable accommodation for up to ten people. Linen and pillows are supplied. You’ll need to bring your own towels. There is no mobile phone reception at Karamea.

The homestead’s large open plan living and dining room area with a modern kitchen is perfect for entertaining or for simply relaxing. There are also lots of activities to keep you occupied, including swimming or fishing in the Barnard River, as well as opportunities for birdwatching.

Karamea Homestead has been made available for horse riding opportunities for guests staying at the homestead. Horse riding is permitted along identified routes and trails. Guests intending to bring their horses are required to provide temporary yarding of their horses (electric fencing with battery) as there are no stables or established yards. Domestic pets are not permitted, and standard national park rules apply.
