Volunteer tour guides from Gloucester Visitor Information Centre conduct tours of the historic Mountain Maid gold mine on Sundays and Wednesdays, subject to advance notice.

Tours require a minimum of 4 people & a maximum of 16. Please check to see if there are tours already scheduled that you could join or ask for availability of tours on other days, all of which depends on the availability of the tour guides trained for this special heritage precinct.

The tours reveal much of the rich mining heritage and give plenty of information about flora and fauna of the park. Copeland was once a bustling town after gold was discovered at Back Creek in 1876. The area was home to about 1100 people with 51 mines that 11 tonnes of gold.

You need to bring a hat, sunscreen, water, snacks and wear fully enclosed footwear. For bookings contact Gloucester Visitor Information Centre.
